Series: 11 Plus non-verbal reasoning practice

What comes next in a sequence of figures?

CoreIn almost every paper that tests this subjectAbout 45 seconds a question in the test

The big idea

Track one feature at a time: shape, rotation, shading, number of dots, size, position. Each can change on its own rule.

Tips that save marks

  • Cover the options and predict the answer first.
  • Rotation is easiest to track with a pointed part of the shape.
  • Eliminate options that break any one rule.

Now try five

Try each one before you look at the answer: answering from memory is what makes it stick. Tap an option to check it. Most children get three or four right at first; five out of five means move on to the next topic.
