How to prepare
The SEAG Transfer Test (Northern Ireland) covers maths and English. Most families start steady preparation in Year 4 or early Year 5, building accuracy first and speed later, then sit timed papers through the summer before the test, which usually takes place in November.
For maths, secure the Key Stage 2 arithmetic, fractions, ratio and problem solving before moving to the multi-step questions that separate the strongest candidates.
For English, read widely every day and practise comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation and grammar; selective tests reward precise word knowledge.

Question 1Aim for about 60 seconds
Which list is in order from smallest to largest?
25 0.45 35%
Show the worked answer
Answer: C, 35%, 25, 0.45
How to work it out
Change them all to the same form, such as decimals: 25 = 0.4, 0.45 = 0.45, 35% = 0.35.
Smallest to largest: 35%, 25, 0.45.
Why the other options are wrong
A (25, 0.45, 35%): Compare them as decimals (25 = 0.4, 0.45 = 0.45, 35% = 0.35): this list is not smallest to largest.
B (25, 35%, 0.45): Compare them as decimals (25 = 0.4, 0.45 = 0.45, 35% = 0.35): this list is not smallest to largest.
D (0.45, 25, 35%): Compare them as decimals (25 = 0.4, 0.45 = 0.45, 35% = 0.35): this list is not smallest to largest.
E (0.45, 35%, 25): Compare them as decimals (25 = 0.4, 0.45 = 0.45, 35% = 0.35): this list is not smallest to largest.
Question 2Aim for about 45 seconds

Show the worked answer
