Question 1Aim for about 35 seconds

Three children, Maya, Priya and Yusuf, each chose a different fruit. Read the clues. Which fruit did Maya choose?

  2. The grape was chosen by a girl.
  3. Priya did not choose the peach.

How to work it out

  1. Then cross out what the other clues forbid.
  2. Priya must have chosen the pear: it is the only one left for she.

Why the other options are wrong

  • B (peach): The peach was chosen by Yusuf: it is the only choice left for Yusuf. Maya chose the grape.
  • C (pear): The pear was chosen by Priya: it is the only choice left for Priya. Maya chose the grape.

Three children, Freya, Ben and Omar, each chose a different pet. Read the clues. Which pet did Ben choose?
